Harlequins gear up for cricket season

The club will hold its first meeting of the current season on Thursday 14 September.

UMBILO Harlequins Cricket Club is gearing up for the upcoming cricket season which starts on 24 September.

Harlequins has affiliated five senior teams and two junior sides into the respective KZNCU and DDCU leagues for the season, and first team takes on opposition at Harlequins in a 20-over-a-side group match on 24 September.

All teams hope to play their home matches at Harlequins, with the exception of the Saturday side which will use Lt King Park in Fynnlands as its preferred home venue.

Quins’ two junior teams will compete in the south zones of the U11 and U13 Sunday morning DDCU youth leagues which will start early in October.

The club will hold its first meeting of the current season on Thursday 14 September. Anyone interested in providing positive input will be welcomed to attend the gathering which will start at 6pm at Quins Combined Sports Club.

“The first and second teams have already engaged in a number of pre-season matches and the practice sessions have been better supported than in any of the recent past seasons. There is also a vibrant mood about and an expectancy of a successful season ahead for the club,” said Ernest Kettle from Harlequins.

Coaching sessions for U11s and U13s will start on Thursday at 4pm and senior training will continue on Sundays from 2pm onwards.
