Race supports early child development

The FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN will raise funds to support early childhood development.

THE organisers of the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN are proud to support TREE’s vision of Early Childhood Development by welcoming the organisation as an official charity in 2017.

“Sport has the ability to change lives. By supporting TREE we look forward to changing the lives of many of Durban’s children. Runners can also show their support by making a donation towards this inspirational organisation when entering the event online. We are excited to host the inaugural event in October and invite all Durbanites to #SupportThe031 by #RunningThe031,” said Michael Meyer, managing director of Stillwater Sports.

Founded in 1984, TREE is a non-profit organisation that specialises in Early Childhood Development, Resource and Training.

“TREE’s vision is to ensure that young children develop to their full potential in line with their rights and needs. We are delighted to be chosen as an official charity of the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN. Through this partnership we hope to create an understanding of the value and power that ‘play’ has in the development of young children as well as to elicit support for our programmes and activities,” said Bertha Magoge, director of TREE.

The run starts at 8am on 8 October at Masabalala Yengwa Street in front of Moses Mabhida Stadium, and will end at the beachfront precinct adjacent to Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Entry fees are R160 for licensed runners, R180 for unlicensed runners, R650 for the Gold Package for licensed runners and R670 for the Gold Package for unlicensed runners.

Entries close on Monday 25 September. For information email: entries@durban10k.com.
