Quins prepares for upcoming season

Umbilo Harlequins Cricket Club will start coaching sessions for players between the ages of 10 years and 13 years during the last week of August.

UMBILO Harlequins Cricket Club has entered two teams in the youth league structures of the Durban and District Cricket Union for the upcoming season.

The club has also entered a senior team in the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union’s stream one Challenge League and four senior teams in the Durban and District Cricket Union’s Leagues. One of the aforementioned sides will compete on Saturday and all the rest will be structured into the Sunday leagues.

The club’s members have been practicing for a month and there is a planned 20-over match against a touring side from India at the Kingsmead Oval on Sunday 6 August from 1pm. Quins have already played a pre-season match up at Maidstone against Railways cricket club, which had a pleasing result, providing management with strategy for the season ahead.

The club will start coaching sessions for players between the ages of 10 years and 13 years during the last week of August, and will be held every Sunday during September until the youth league matches start. Coaching sessions will then revert to Friday afternoons.
