Rugby players capped

Durban High School rugby players were capped at the KZN High Schools annual capping ceremony.

THE annual KZN High Schools Capping Ceremony was held at Growthpoint Kings Park Stadium on 12 June.

Tony Richter, vice chairman of KZN High Schools’ Rugby Association and his chairman, Gerald Pyoos, welcomed the guests and players before handing over to Francois Louis, president of the KZNRU and Lubabalo (Tera) Mtembu, Sharks player, who addressed the guests.

The team capping ceremony saw 23 players from various schools selected in each respective category, with 11 Durban High School learners being officially initiated into KZN High Schools teams.

Darren Booysen and Jaydian Cedares made the U16 Grant Khomo Week team, Tonderai Ndudzo, Luthando Buthelezi, Sean Barnes and Kamvelihle Fatyela made the U18 Academy team and Phendulani Burthelezi, Lwandile Menze, Sanele Nohamba, Cham Zondeki and Celimpilo Gumede made the U18 Craven Week team.

Scott Mathie, DHS 1st XV coach and master in charge of rugby, was also noted as one of the coaches of the U16 Grant Khomo Week.
