Youth Day trail run

A Youth Day trail run will be held at Enanda Adventure Park on Friday.

AS South Africans commemorate events that changed the course of the country’s future, the born-free generation are encouraged to embark on a course of their own at the Durban Green Corridor Youth Trail Run on Friday.

For the fifth consecutive year, the non-profit Durban Green Corridor organisation will host a fun trail run at the eNanda Adventure Park for more than 200 young people from disadvantaged communities in the surrounding area.

Unlike your everyday youth fitness challenge, the trail run is designed for girls and boys of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. A 5km beginner course has been designed for the nine to 15 years old group, and a more challenging 10km route for the competitive and spirited 16 to 19-year-olds, in an effort to promote healthy living through exercise and mental wellness through fun interactive activities.

Refreshment stops will be erected at various points along the course to ensure that each participant remains hydrated as they navigate the course, with medics patrolling the site to ensure the safety and well-being of the young runners.
Races kick off at 9am, with officials sounding the gun at the noon cut-off to signify the end of the race. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three runners in each category, and medals to the first 100 to finish, so that they can also be proud of their personal triumphs.
