Run for shoes on Youth Day

The Ntenga Foundation charity run will raise funds for the purchase of 3000 school shoes.

TO commemorate Youth Day, the Ntenga Foundation will host its 3rd annual charity run starting from Moses Mabhida Stadium at 7am and ending at uShaka Marine World’s Wet ‘n Wild on Friday, 16 June.

The aim of the Ntenga Foundation is to raise funds for various projects to better the lives of young school children. This year, their campaign involves raising funds to purchase school shoes which will ultimately benefit children living in rural areas, where many go to school barefoot. This aim this year is to attract 6 000 runners, and locals are urged to participate. There will also be entrants from far afield as Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland.

The 5km and 10km run/walk starts at People’s Park, Moses Mabhida Stadium at 7am and ends at uShaka Marine World at 9am.

There will be a mass aerobics marathon at uShaka Marine World’s Wet ‘n Wild pools at 9.15am, and there will be a post race entertainment at uShaka Marine Wet ‘n Wild pools at 10.30am.

Cost to enter is R120 per person. To register, go to uShaka Marine World’s ticketing office. Entries close on 14 June. All entrants will receive a race number, a Ntenga Foundation T-shirt, medal on completion of the race as well as an uShaka Marine World Wet ‘n Wild entrance ticket.
