Swimming champ going places

Leshen Pillay has excelled in the pool and in lifesaving over the past few months.

YOUNG swimmer, Leshen Pillay has earned more than a fistfull of medaals in recent swim events.

A member of the Seagulls-McLeod-Swimming and Marine Lifesaving Club, Leshen is coached by by Debbie McLeod and Russel Sadler. at the recent SA Junior Nationals, he swam away with the gold medal in the 400m event.

He went on to do his best time in every event and won a total of four medals. In the SA Schools’ Nationals, he achieved eight medals – four of them gold, and in the SA Nipper Champs, he achieved seven medals.

He was the top U13 competitor at the SA Stillwater champs, achieving three gold medals and a SA record.

Leshen gets back into the water this week after a short rest to start his training for the season ahead.
