South Coast Bike Fest a must for adrenalin junkies

High energy extreme sports action will be taking over Margate at the South Coast Bike Fest 2017.

SOUTH Africa’s most daring extreme sports’ athletes are heading to Margate from 27 to 30 April where they will get the crowds fired up at this year’s South Coast Bike Fest #SCBF2017.

Most of the biking action will be taking place at the Experiential Energy Zone situated at the Margate Fishing Pier where top riders, bikers and skaters will #fuelyourfun with action-packed entertainment for the whole family.

Bringing in some unparalleled biking performances, the ShredBetty team will be putting on an impressive biking demo on both Thursday, 27 April and Friday, 28 April with ‘learn to ride’ sessions later in the day, all happening at the Margate Pier. Originating as a Durban-based non-profit organisation, this group of extreme sports’ enthusiasts aims to support and encourage women riders across the country.

The two-wheeled action continues at #SCBF2017 on Sunday, 30 April where the Powasol team will be hosting the first round of the epic Powasol EnduroX Series. South Africa’s best enduro, motocross, trials and fun riders will be taking to the start line on everything from an 85cc to a 500cc between 7am and 3pm.

Spectators can expect to see the country’s top action sports culminating in a fantastically choreographed performance. Big names, including freestyle motocross (FMX) champions, Nick de Wit and Brian Capper, who will ramp 100kg motorcycles 10 metres in the air with riders missing each other by mere centimetres. The audience will also be treated to an amazing trials bike demonstration on a purpose-built ramp where the rider will have to navigate a series of impressive obstacles. Fans will also get the opportunity to ‘meet and greet’ these daredevils following their twice-daily acrobatic performance at the Experiential Energy Zone. Also, taking place on Sunday, 30 April is the incredible Brian Capper XRX trials bike show at Shelly Centre, 9am.

For those who prefer the man-powered extreme sports, top BMX riders and skateboarders will put on a breathtaking performance of big air tricks and manoeuvres off multiple ramps, all forming part of the Gravity Clash Action Sports’ event.

The Dezzi Festival of Speed, taking place at Dezzi South Coast Raceway, will also give audiences the chance to witness some high-speed biking performances by top-level riders.

In addition, the #freefunseeker pass provides access to the Village Pier Rock Stage where South African musicians the Hairy Legged Lentil Eaters, Hinds Brothers, Circle of Stones and Phil Moffet, among others, will perform crowd favourites.

All bikes are welcome at the South Coast Bike Fest and entrance to the four-day event is free provided pre-registration for the #freefunseeker tickets is completed at www.quicket.co.za. Tickets to the #fuelyourfun Carling Main Beach Stage are also available at www.quicket.co.za at a cost of R130 per day or R200 for the cocktail bar day pass. For a VIP four-day pass the cost is R360. Children under 12 enter free.
