Enter Cape Town Marathon

Entries are now open for this year’s Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.

ENTRIES are officially open for this year’s Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on the weekend of 16 and 17 September.

An opportunity for participants from both South Africa and around the world to run through the beautiful city of Cape Town, this iconic city marathon brings with it prize money in excess of R2 million, the largest sum ever offered for a South African standard marathon.

“Young or old, professional or amateur, you’re warmly invited to be part of this year’s historic festival of running. We’re already receiving huge international interest,” said Elana Meyer, ambassador for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.

Last year, Sanlam Cape Town Marathon had a total of 19 336 participants in all the events held over the weekend, with the 42.2km standard marathon seeing 7939 entrants, a 38 per cent increase from the previous year. With an entry cut off in both the marathon and the 10km of 10 000 runners organisers are expecting a closed event.

The events are the classic Olympian 42.2km standard marathon distance on 17 September at 7am, the 10km Peace Run/Walk on 17 September at 7.10am, the 4.2km Peace Fun Run on 16 September at noon and the 12km and 22km Peace Trail Runs on 16 September at 7.45am and 7am.
