Gymnast wins gold at champs

DURBAN rhythmic gymnast, Catherine Lafitte, a pupil at Durban Girls’ High School, was part of Team SA who took part in the Region 5 Gymnastics Championship held in Harare, Zimbabwe from 7 to 12 December.

Team SA comprises of gymnasts from all over South Africa and consists of disciplines such as men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics, tumbling, trampolining, rhythmic gymnastics and aerobic gymnastics. They competed against other African countries in this international event. Catherine competed at senior Olympic level and won bronze for Ball, silver for Rope, gold for hoop and for clubs, attaining a silver overall.

Her team, SA Rhythmic Senior Olympic, won gold overall.
