Sharks announce new signings

The Cell C Sharks announce new signings and re-signings.

WITH the start of the Cell C Sharks pre-season training, head coach Robert du Preez, has announced new signings and re-signings for the new season.

Commenting on the new signings, du Preez said: “The new players who have joined us will ensure that we have much needed depth in certain positions.We welcome them to our family and we look forward to their positive contributions going forward. Clement Poitrenaud brings with him a wealth of experience at both international and club level. He is a good acquisition for us and he will provide great mentorship and be a calming influence on the young and exciting, fullbacks in our team, who are relatively inexperienced.”

Clement Poitrenaud (fullback from Toulouse, France) has signed up for a year, Enoch Mnyaka (tighthead prop from EP Kings) has signed up for two years, Jacques Vermeulen (loose-forward from the Stormers) has signed up for three years, Jeremy Ward (centre from Southern Kings) has signed up for two years, Johan Deysel (centre from Namibia/Leopards) has signed up for two years and Kobus van Wyk (centre from the Stormers) has signed up for three years.

Du Preez added: “We have a young and exciting team who are building for the future. It’s a key focus area for us to retain the young talent in our squad,which will create continuity and stability with our vision going forward. With this in mind, I am delighted to announce the names of the following players, who have shown their commitment to the team and our jersey by signing contract extensions.”

Andre Esterhuizen, Benhard Janse van Rensburg, Curwin Bosch, Franco Marais, Hyron Andrews, Jean Droste, John-Hubert Meyer, Marius Louw, Mzamo Majola, Neil Maritz, Odwa Ndungane, Rhyno Smith, Ruan Gouws, Sibusiso Nkosi, Stephan Lewies, Thomas du Toit and Tristan Blewett have renewed their contracts.

The Sharks also announced that Wandile Mjekevu and Neil Maritz will be joining the Southern Kings on loan for Super Rugby 2017.
