MTB riders enjoy full road closure

Mountain bikers are called to take on roadies in a special batch for the Tsogo Sun Amashova.

TSOGO Sun Amashova race directors are making sure that mountain bikers are not feeling left out this year as KZN’s biggest cycling race and SA’s oldest classic draws near.

According to Annie Batchelder, Tsogo Sun Amashova race director, there is a special batch just for mountain bikers to participate in the race so they too can enjoy full road closure from Pietermaritzburg to Durban in any of the three race distances.

“The Tsogo Sun Amashova is the only road cycling race of this magnitude in SA that offers a dedicated mountain biking batch. Many cyclists have chosen to stick to mountain biking due to the dangers associated with cycling on roads and this race affords them the opportunity to enjoy cycling the road of champions without any cause for concern for their safety,” said Batchelder.

Cyclists can still enter the race during registration which is at the Garden Court Marine Parade on Friday, 14 October from 9am to 6pm and Saturday, 15 October from 9am to 4pm.
