Clifton hosts 12th annual waterpolo tourney

The 12th Annual JAM Clifton Waterpolo Tournament will draw 16 teams from among the top waterpolo schools in the country to Clifton’s Olympic Standard Aquatic Centre and the City of Durban.

The 12th Annual JAM Clifton Water Polo Tournament takes place from Thursday 22 September to Sunday 25 September, drawing 16 teams from among the top waterpolo schools in the country to Clifton’s Olympic Standard Aquatic Centre.

The tournament, which started in 2005, has grown from strength to strength over the past decade and will see the best in waterpolo talent showcased over the four days, with fierce competition and unique camaraderie evident among the teams.

This year Clifton welcomes to its pool teams from Affies, Bishops Diocesan College, Durban High School, Glenwood Boys’ High School, Hilton College, Kearsney College, KES, Maritzburg College, Reddam House, St Alban’s College, St David’s Marist College, St John’s College, St Stithians College and Westville Boys’ High School.

Past winners of this prestigious tournament include Maritzburg College (2005), St John’s College (2006 and 2011), Reddam House (2013) and Clifton College (2007 to 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015) and many of the South African U18 waterpolo players will exhibit their skills and incredible stamina in the water – an appetizer to the healthy competition enjoyed by all schools on the water polo calendar.

While waterpolo will be the focus of the weekend, a variety of food and refreshment stations will be on offer to the guests at the tournament.
