Cream rises to the top in soccer event

Highway schools took the titles at the Energade Interschool 5-a-side Soccer Challenge.

THE Energade Interschool 5-a-side Soccer Challenge 2016 was held at Durban High School recently.

Schools from as all over KZN gathered at DHS to fight for honors in U14, U15, U16, U19 boys' categories as well girls' U19.

This small sided game's format focuses on exposing potential and talent, attracting the likes of former Bafana coach Clive Barker, Amazulu Development under Steve Bezuidenhout, Shooting Stars Academy’s Lewis Donnelly and Sharks Soccer Academy Coach and former Bafana keeper Wade Du Plessis.

Winning teams in the various categories walked away with training jerseys from UMBRO as well as Player of the Day in each category, receiving a match ball.

In the U14 final, Pinetown Boys' High beat DHS 2-1; in the U15 final, Kloof beat Pinetown 3-0; in the U16 finals, Pinetown Boys' High beat DHS 3-2; and in the U19 final, Pinetown beat DHS 1-0.
