GUD sponsors sports bursaries

GUD Holdings has sponsored R1 million for sports bursaries.

DURBAN automotive parts manufacturer, GUD Holdings, continued its investment in youth development through sport by renewing itssponsorship of the Sharks Academy in 2016.

GUD Holdings presented a cheque for R1 million to the Sharks Academy on 27 August during the Sharks vs Blue Bulls Currie Cup match at the Growthpoint Kings Park Rugby Stadium.

The partnership between GUD Holdings and the Sharks Academy is in its fifth year with GUD remaining the largest sponsor. Fifty rugby and soccer bursaries which include an educational qualification at a tertiary institution have been awarded to talented youth from previously disadvantaged communities since 2012.

According to Red Shuttleworth, CEO of GUD Holdings, they are passionate about the Sharks and this motivated them to play a role in supporting South African youth through sport.

“Being a Durban based company for the past 65 years we are huge supporters of the Sharks and are proud to be associated with the Sharks Academy to uplift the next generation of South African sports icons,” he said.
