Glenwood shines at waterpolo meet

Glenwood High School's waterpolo teams took on St Stithians in a tournament last week.

GLENWOOD hosted St Stithians in an afternoon of waterpolo on Thursday 1 September.

Being the start of the season, the calibre of waterpolo was somewhat rusty but in the end there were some tough encounters.

The U14A match was a tough match which saw the Glenwood boys fight back strongly in the end to lose 3-6. They had their chances to score but unfortunately too many wayward shots cost the team.

The U15A team had a very good match. Although they lost 4-5, their structure on both attack and defence was solid. Here too the boys were unlucky to miss two chances to level the score in the last minute.

The U16A team had a solid win. The boys played outstanding water polo and never looked like losing from the start. The final score was 10-2.

The 1st team match was always going to be a tough encounter, with both teams missing players serving duty at the junior world championships in Montenegro. However the Glenwood boys were outstanding and ran out worthy winners 10-6.
