EXPLORE the outdoors this weekend with local hikers.
Durban Ramblers Hiking Club will hike at Nkonka Trail (KKNR) on Saturday 27 August.
Meet at 1.45pm at the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve Picnic spot. The hike goes up to the escarpment, along veld and to the Nkonka Falls.
Entrance fee to the reserve R25. Drinks afterwards at the Nature Café.
Grade 3 – strenuous; distance is ±9 km.

On Sunday 28 August, the group will hike up Old Baldy (iSithumba).
This is a scenic hike through Isithumba village, along the Umgeni River followed by a steep climb up Old Baldy (400m altitude gain) to some great views of the valley. There is some scrambling up granite rock and a bit of rock climbing through a crack in the mountain, considered difficult for inexperienced/ unfit hikers.
Meet at Assagay Hotel parking at 8am. Grade 4; distance is ±10km.
