THE International Kanazawa Cup 2016 hosted last weekend by the SKISA organisation at DUT, was dominated by Team SKISA who demolished all opposition in the team events.
Tournament director, Sonny Pillay Hanshi, said the event, which was attended by a record number of more than 500 karateka from throughout the country and abroad, was an overwhelming success with a huge spectator turn out.
Japanese karate maestro and two time world champion Murakami Manabu, who chaired the championships, expressed his absolute delight at the high standard of fighting techniques on display throughout the event: “Every year I attend the Kanazawa Cup it becomes bigger and better,” said Murakami, who gave an excellent demo of self defence fighting techniques with local tournament seasoned fighter Njabulo Khumalo, which was a highlight of the event.
