DURBAN Surf Lifesaving Club recently hosted the 2016 Lifesaving SA Championships at Addington Beach.
More than 700 young competitors from around the country took part in the three-day event. Once again, Durban Surf Nippers romped home to claim their 6th back-to-back national club title, winning all the the age group aggregate trophies except one, and overall beating the second placed Club, Umhlanga Rox by a huge margin of 335 points.
Local Berea resident, Tannah Smith dominated the water events in the U11 girls' category, winning individual gold medals for the surf swim, run-swim-run and Malibu board events. She also scooped the award for the top competitor of the championship.
