Waterpolo boys excel

Glenwood High School's waterpolo players did well in games against Northwood.

GLENWOOD High School's waterpolo teams performed well in games at Northwood at the weekend.

The U14A team, which has shown tremendous growth since the start of the term, ran out deserved winners in their game. According to Steve La Marque, Director of Aquatics, the team's structure has improved significantly and with that the centre forward Henk Gouws is receiving good ball and converting nicely. The team won their game 9-2.

The U15A team were missing two of their starting seven A players and this had the boys struggling somewhat. In the end the boys did exceptionally well to pull back a draw. A solid performance in the goals by Jordan van Rooyen saved the team several times. The score was 3-3.

The 1st team battled to find any rhythm in their match. “Impatience and too many unforced errors resulted in chances going a begging. However the basic structure was a good with our boys having a good result. Slade du Randt was solid up front as was the goalkeeper Alex van Rooyen,” said La Marque. The 1st team won 10-6.

Other team results: U14B lost 2-3; 2nd won 12-1.
