Cyclists raise funds in anti trafficking ride

The Lexis Nexis Cycling Against Trafficking Challenge, raised a whopping R140 000 for National Freedom Network, an anti-human trafficking organisation.

THE LexisNexis Cycling Against Trafficking Challenge ended on a high note on Wednesday, 7 October with R140 000 raised for counter-human trafficking organisation, the National Freedom Network.

Having cycled more than 200 kilometres over three days from Drakensberg to Durban in a bid to raise awareness, the group of 13 cyclists as well popular radio jock, Damon Beard, enjoyed a grand welcome from staff and supporters at LexisNexis South Africa’s head office in Morningside.

The day also commemorated LexisNexis’ annual Cares Day, where staff are encouraged to volunteer their time to empower men, women and children who have been targets of human trafficking. This year, 250 care packs were assembled by staff ahead of the cyclists’ arrival.

LexisNexis SA CEO, Billy Last thanked Interpak Books, First Technology, Discount Books, Afiswitch, Vodacom, Kaleidocode, Deloitte and The Proper Group for their generous contributions towards the initiative. Other non-monetary sponsors who contributed skills and services were also appreciated.
