Glenwood Hoppers shine in cricket tourney

Glenwood Hoppers excelled at the recent Sunfoil Twenty/20 U11 cricket tournament.

THE annual Sunfoil three-day Twenty/20 U11 cricket tournament, played at Kearsney College and Highbury, ended on an exciting note with overall winners Glenwood Hoppers winning one pool and Highbury Hurricanes the other.

Best batsman went to Tristan Rossouw of the Glenwood Hoppers, best bowler to Greg McGlashen of the Northlanders and best all-rounder to Jonathan van Zyl from the Highbury Hurricanes.

The three days were well supported by hundreds of parents who witnessed outstanding performances from some of the province’s top primary school players.

Participating schools were the Highbury Hurricanes, Hillcrest Hotshots, Kloof Cobras, Winston Park Pythons, Curro HCA Pinch Hitters, Westville Warriors, Northlanders, Umhlali Dolphins, DPHS Dragons, Clifton Chargers, Chelsea Lions, Glenwood Hoppers, Pelham Panthers and St Charles Strickers from Pietermaritzburg; and the development sides RPC Mambas and Sunfoil Tigers.
