Udderly amazing as cyclists raise funds for CHOC

An 'udderly' amazing amount of R150 000 was raised for CHOC through the Great Annual Bicycle Ride Across Natal.

THE 2015 Great Annual Bicycle Ride Across Natal (GABRAN) saw over 150 entrants this year raising money for CHOC.

This 300km, three-day cycle tour from Drakensville to Hillcrest was in aid of raising funds for the COWS – a fundraising arm of CHOC (Childhood Heamotology Oncology Clinics).

All participants, from cyclists to back-up drivers and support crews, embraced the COWS Love Living Life slogan and mixed it with an overdose of enthusiasm in order to raise much-needed funds for the little superheroes fighting various forms of cancer.

“We were blown away when we counted the moo-lah and came to a grand figure of R70 000. We could not believe our ‘hooves’ when one of our corporate participants, Liviero, who had sent some riders on the event, confirmed a further donation of R80 000 to the cause. Thank you from the bottom of our hooves for helping us make GABRAN 2015 ‘udderly’ amazing,” said Lynne Macrae, Media Moo from the Durban COW herd.

Planning for GABRAN 2016 is well underway and dates have been confirmed for 19, 20 and 21 August 2016. Should you, or your company wish to partake in the event, or make donations of any kind, contact the Westville Cycle Club on 031 767 4448.
