Trail clinic a success

Enthusiastic athletes learnt all about trail running at a clinic held in Glenwood.

THE Durban Trail Clinic took place at the weekend of under cold and grey skies, but with warm, friendly trail runners.

Held at The Breathing Space yoga studio in Glenwood, the clinic catered to those who were keen to learn about every aspect of trail running.

Top trail runner Ryno Griesel, holder of the Drakensberg Grand Traverse pairs record, was the guest star on day one, teaching participants about maximising their training and giving techniques on tackling hills.

Justin Hand from The Durban Runner was there with Brooks Running to help the runners fit and choose shoes, while CamelBak supplied hydration packs for everyone to try on.

Lessons and practical sessions on gear, training, nutrition, injury prevention and a yoga class by seven-time SA freediving champion Helen Weaver helped everyone appreciate the lifestyle of trail running. From trail newbies to the more advanced runners, everyone left with a lot more knowledge, inspiration, and enjoyment after the two days.
