Durban women take top spots

Durban's Nicole Pallet and Olivia Brand took the two top spots in the Billabong Junior Series in J Bay.

DURBAN surfer, Nicole Pallet clinched the women’s title by winning the final encounter with fellow Durbanite Olivia Brand, at the second event on the 2014/15 Billabong Junior Series at Magnatubes in Jeffreys Bay on Thursday.

USA's Eithan Osborne clinched the men's title.

Pallet had earlier defeated top seed Gina Smith (Jeffreys Bay) in the semifinals while Brand overcame the challenge of Chantelle Botha (Warner Beach) in the all-South African women’s field.

The World Surf League (WSL) Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) 1,000 rated events in the Billabong Junior Series count towards the crowning of the 2015 WSL Africa Junior titles and selection of the squad to represent the regional at the WSL Junior Championships in January 2016.
