Durban hosts trail run clinic

Durban will be the first city to host trail run clinics, which will be open to 15 people.

DURBANITES with a passion for the outdoors are invited to be part of a two-day trail running clinic hosted by TRAIL magazine at The Breathing Space, 98 Bulwer Road, Glenwood on 25 and 26 July from 7.30am to 2.30pm.

According to TRAIL editor, and experienced trail runner, Deon Braun, the magazine is Durban-based and is kicking off its three-region clinics in KZN for obvious reasons – the city is ideal for running.

Learn everything you need to know to get into trail running, including what gear you might need, tips to maximise your training and racing, the latest nutrition findings, preventing injuries, the technique tweaks that will help you run faster and further than ever, and the best books to read on the subject from a panel of experts which include Justin Hand of Durban Runner, yoga teacher Helen Weaver, biokineticist Stephan Terblanche, experienced teacher, acclaimed trail runner Ryno Griesel of Gauteng, and Deon Braun, who has been a keen runner for over 30 years.

The format is both studio lessons and outdoor runs, of approximately 10km on the Saturday and 15km on the Sunday.

The class size is limited to 15 people.

Cost is R800 for both days including refreshments and snacks, the runners' current shoe assessment and optional Brooks shoe fit-test, gait assessment, gear fitting, hydration pack fitment from CamelBak, ingredients for a kitchen class to make your own endurance trail foods, lucky draw prizes, and a completion certificate.

Book before midday on Friday 10 July to save R200 on the regular R1 000 price.
