Testing track for MTB Classic

Entries for the Sappi Howick MTB Classic close on 3 June.

ENTER now for the Sappi Howick MTB Classic, which will start and finish at Howick High School on Sunday, 7 June.

Howick MTB Club is pulling out all the stops for the Sappi Howick MTB Classic with some brilliant track that is testing but very manageable for all riders. As in the past, the organisers are expecting the event to draw in the numbers from around Howick and further afield.

The AMArider accredited trail management system forms the stage upon which the popular event's action unfolds and attracts hundreds of MTB enthusiasts from throughout KwaZulu-Natal and abroad.

The 40km, which starts at 8.30am, provides cyclists looking for a truly challenging ride with single track nirvana and plenty of technical sections with the occasional jeep track or forest road stretch to ease any unlikely congestion.

The 19km route, which riders will tackle from 9am, has a very similar feel to the 40km event, giving those unable to take on the longer distance a full experience of Howick's renowned single track while the younger member of the family – and future mountain biking stars – can enjoy the 10km River Route which provides a challenging but manageable journey along the Umgeni River conservancy area.

Entries can be submitted via ROAG (www.roag.co.za) and close on 3 June. Cost for the 40km Classic is R150, and late entries cost R180. For the

19km Intermediate race, entries are R100, and R130 for late entries.

Registration is from 6.30am to 8.15am on 7 June at Howick High School.
