Four injured as scaffolding collapses

Four construction workers were rushed to hospital after scaffolding crashed onto them yesterday.

FOUR men were injured this afternoon when scaffolding fell onto them at a construction site in Dr Pixley Ka Seme (West) Street in Durban’s CBD.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesman said paramedics, along with other emergency services, arrived at the site and were ushered to the second floor where they found the injured.

“The four men were found beneath scaffolding which they had been working near when it collapsed. Paramedics began removing the scaffolding and found that four men had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately no-one sustained any serious injuries,” Meiring said.

Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to St Augustines Hospital.

Investigations into the cause of the incident are underway by the respective authorities.
