Racing for charity

Runner, Debbie Densham, will be taking on her first Comrades Marathon to raise funds for the Community Chest.

LOCAL runner, Debbie Densham will be running her first Comrades Marathon this year, in aid of the Community Chest.

Debbie is running under the Race for Charity banner, and will be contributing towards the better development of more than 6000 children helped at 22 creches and early development centres in both the Pietermaritzburg and Durban and coastal regions of KZN.

“This is my first Comrades and of all charities, this is one that I am the closest to, as while I support the Chest, I am supporting 86 other organisations as well. Community Chest is directly involved in the community I am a part of and I believe in what it does,” she said.

Debbie said she has wanted to run the Comrades marathon since she was 12.

“I stopped running to take up mountain biking and swimming, and have done the Midmar Mile many times. I am back to running now, and my times are getting better. I am getting nervous now but also very excited for the Comrades. I’ve said every year that I was going to do it, and finally I am!” she said.
