Final week to enter Comrades

This is the final week for runners to enter the 2015 Comrades Marathon.

COMRADES Marathon runners have less than one week to get their entry in and secure their place at the start of the 90th ‘Ultimate Human Race’ in 2015.

The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has announced that the three-month entry process will close on 30 November at midnight.

Comrades Marathon enthusiasts who have not yet entered the iconic race are urged to enter before then.

Runners who are going to submit their entry via post are reminded to submit their entry form and proof of payment, using one of the following options – cheque, postal order or direct deposit, payable to the Comrades Marathon Association. Post your entry to the Comrades Marathon Association: PO Box 100621, Scottsville, 3209.

No late entries will be accepted.

South Africa’s most celebrated running event has experienced a heightened interest since its recognition by the Guinness World Records for being the world’s biggest ultra-marathon in 2010 as well as being the 2012 winner of the Sport Industry Awards for South Africa’s ‘Best Sport Participation Event’.

The iconic road running race also enjoys its recognition as Africa’s oldest marathon and ultra-marathon by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

Naturally, the official organising body of the event, the CMA, is geared up for another fantastic staging of the renowned race.

CMA race director, Rowyn James said: “The 2015 Comrades Marathon will be run for the 90th time since the race was first staged in 1921. The start gun will be fired in Durban on Sunday, 31 May 2015 and the race ends 12 hours later at the Oval Cricket Stadium in Pietermaritzburg.”
