Finalists decided in tennis league

Tennis teams will fight it out in the finals of the Tony Jackson Sports Night tennis league on Monday.

THE finalists for the Tony Jackson Sports Night League were decided on Monday night at Westridge Tennis Stadium.

In the first semi-final, new-comers, Chase, were way too good for last year's runners-up PowerAde, winning by four sets to zero.

In the final, Chase will meet defending champions Durban Speciality Chemicals who beat first time semi-finalists, Lynx Underwriting Managers by the same score-line, 4-0.

Chase and DSC met in the group stages of the league with DSC winning by three sets to one. After the semi-finals one can only agree that the two best teams in the league have made it through to what could be one of the best finals in night league history where the match could go either way.

PowerAde and Lynx will now play out for third spot.

Fifth place will be played out between Gamma and Dunlop Sports. Gamma defeated Tony Jackson Sports 3-1 while Dunlop were far too good for Sica's Guest House, Dunlop winning by four sets to love, leaving Sica's to fight it out with TJS for 7th place overall.

Ninth position will be fought out between Ahmed Asmal Professional Accountants and Space TV after they defeated Scorpions and Jaizen respectively.

Jaizen and Scorpion will now play-off for eleventh place.

Finals begin at 6pm on Monday 8 September at Westridge Tennis Stadium and all tennis fans are welcome to witness some of the finest tennis Durban has to offer. Eats and drinks will be on sale. Contact Braddon on 084 845 4766.
