Hockey season ends with loss

Glenwood High School 's first hockey team lost their game against College.

GLENWOOD’S first hockey team finished off their season with a disappointing 1-4 loss against a spirited Maritzburg College outfit recently.

Despite beating College in the previous encounter and having come off a good run of form the boys in green were unable to lift their game when needed.

The game started at a frenetic pace with both keepers being kept busy, but it was ultimately College who drew first blood from a penalty corner. Glenwood responded well moving the ball around the astro with purpose and precision. Their pressure eventually paid off when Keagan Hezlett converted a penalty corner to level the scores at 1-1 going into the break.

Unfortunately the second half was an extremely frustrating affair for the Glenwood supporters as the boys on the park seem to lose focus and direction. College seemed the better team on the turf and the continuous pressure on the Glenwood goal saw them net three easy tap-ins from the back post.

Although Glenwood countered and created scoring opportunities they were not able to convert them leaving the final score 1-4 to College.

Despite the loss, the first team has had an outstanding season and can be proud of their performances.
