Calling all runners

Take part in the Netcare Lamontville Fun Run and Walk this month and help raise funds for the elderly.

ALL local running enthusiasts are invited to put on their tekkies and take part in the Netcare Lamontville Fun Run and Walk on Saturday, 21 June.

Registration for the 1km walk and 5km run takes place at the Issy Geshen Lamont Home at 2342 Ndlwana Road in Lamontville, which is also the start and finish of the race. The start of the 5km event is at 9am, while the 1km walk begins at 9.15am. The entry fee is R20 for adults and R10 for children. A morning of fun activities has been organised and sponsored by the Robin Hood Foundation and includes a jumping castle, face-painting and balloon sculpturing.

All proceeds from the walk, run and fun morning will be donated to the Issy Geshen Lamont Home for the Aged. This old age home provides invaluable nursing care to 68 frail, indigent elderly residents. In order to raise much needed funds for the home, the staff, residents and members of local running clubs have planned the Netcare Lamontville Fun Run and Walk with the hope of attracting the community, as well as the support of local businesses.

‘’Netcare is very proud to be involved with this initiative, which focuses on health and family fun, as well as being associated with the Issy Geshen Lamont Home which has provided shelter, food, medical support and love to the elderly for the past fifty four years,’’ said Augusta Dorning, general manager of Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital.

The organising committee is looking for sponsorship of refreshments, as well as prizes for the lucky draw and raffle.
