Comfortable win for Glenwood
Glenwood High's cricketers beat Westville by five wickets.
ON Saturday the eagerly awaited clash between Glenwood High School and Westville took place at Bowdens Field, Westville.
Glenwood won the toss and Glenwood captain, Andile Phehlukwayo, invited Westville to bat. A brilliant bowling display by Andile Phehlukwayo reduced the Westville batting line up to tatters. Westville finishing on 74 all out in 30 overs with Bruce Kerr top scoring with 20. Andile Phehlukwayo was fantastic finishing with 5 for 20 off 9 overs. All the Glenwood bowlers were outstanding as well as their fielding.
Glenwood’s batting reponse was tempered by some disciplined Westville bowling and a rain delay of about an hour. A solid partnership between young Jordan Grobbelaar and Mickey Hay enabled Glenwood to get home comfortably by five wickets. Mickey Hay finishing with 31 not out was the anchor of the innings.
