The event currently at New Beach till 15 December, coincided with the national tour over the weekend. The beach volleyball fans of the ‘surf-city’ are eagerly anticipating the championship.

The event brings the curtain down on the FIVB’s (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) 2013 beach volleyball championships. Ahead of the matches, the players paid tribute to Nelson Mandela.

Former champion KZN Provincial volleyball player Sunil Geness said, “I am confident that our well coordinated media blitz will create the desired awareness of the global beach volleyball event in our city – where the ‘fun never sets’. To this end, we are bracing ourselves for a huge turnout of fans and the general public for the entire duration of this year’s sizzling beach volleyball event.”

In addition to watching the world’s best beach volleyball players from 28 countries in action, Geness said that the public can look forward to getting their hands on attractive give-aways from the promoters. “With public viewing being free of charge, be in the stands if you want to be a winner,” says Geness.
