Morningside karateka scoop medals

Morningside Dojo karateka had a successful third term and are all geared up for the fourth and final karate season for 2013.

SHOTOKAN Karate-do International of South Africa (SKISA) Morningside Dojo karateka had a successful third term and are all geared up for the fourth and final karate season for 2013.

Karateka recently participated in the SKISA Team Challenge and the WKF-KZN Developmental tournament. Many students won medals at both these tournaments which show that the karateka are being groomed well for competition karate at a young age. Kasey Pillay who is in Grade 4 at St Anthony’s school, won gold medals at the SKISA Team Challenge and the WKF-KZN Developmental tourney and hopes to striking a hat-trick of gold medals when she participates in the upcoming SKISA Developmental tournament to be held later this month.

“I am very proud of all our students. It is always a great feeling to watch students perform well on the tatami and win medals,” said Sensei Tina Lee, SKISA Morningside instructor.

Karateka were fortunate to train under the national Protea karate coach, Sensei Brando Pillay at the closing of the third term and are all geared up for an actioned filled last term of karate. “I enjoyed working with all these talented students and look forward to working with all of them for the SKISA Developmental Tournament” said Pillay.
