Overgrown verges a delight

Residents have enjoyed walking past overgrown and weedy parks and islands during lockdown.

EDITOR – We have so enjoyed walking past overgrown and weedy parks and islands during lockdown. What a pleasure to see so many butterflies flitting from flower to flower, and to see birds feeding on the grass seeds. We have tried to contact the Parks Department to ask them to leave patches uncut in the parks and along the islands – their phone lines seem to be unmanned and go unanswered, and we could not get an email address.

The islands in Glenwood have been shorn by a contractor. The residents of Bedford Gardens took matters into their own hands and have mowed parts of their park. Thank you to those enlightened residents who have left “wild sections ” for the insects and the birds. How sensible and caring! This is 2020, the year of vision!
