Intervention needed at accident hotspot

Road accidents occur frequently at the junction of Currie and Gladys Mazibuko Roads.

EDITOR – Traffic accidents occur so frequently at the junction of Currie and Gladys Mazibuko Roads, that the loud bang of the latest collision hardly registers as I sit by my computer 100 metres away.

The cost of removing the trees and bushes overhanging the corner property and banning vehicle parking immediately outside, that seriously impede the uphill vision of vehicles approaching the junction from the south side of Currie road, would be incomparably less than the cost of damage to persons and vehicles, loss of productivity and medical expenditure that accumulates on a regular basis.

Vehicles approaching from the south side of Currie road presently have restricted vision of vehicles approaching at speed downhill from Gladys Mazibuko Road.
