EDITOR – Cowey Road is in a pathetic condition and I fail to understand how the Department concerned is just not interested in maintaining this road.
This road has become extremely busy recently due to the number of new businesses that have opened. There are no road markings so motorists drive anywhere, some even think it’s a one way.
The overgrown trees are a nuisance and block the street lights at night. Whenever we experience heavy wind or rain the branches fall over the road causing harm to motorists.
I don’t know when last any cleaning or maintenance was done on this road. At night cars park anywhere as there are no demarcated parking lines. The area by Bread Mill and Woolworths is dark at night and also poorly kept.

Response from former ward councillor Martin Meyer who dealt with these issues during his time as councillor:
The sidewalk by Woolworths was fixed about two years ago, but when the contractor did work there, it was not restored very well. I did report this to the City, who is investigating.
Tree cutting on the Berea is a challenge, but a reminder of this area will be sent to Parks.
