Resident thanks police for sterling work

I want to express my gratitude to Det Victor Biyase and the two lady constables who were absolutely wonderful.

EDITOR – I want to commend Det Victor Biyase and the two lady constables from Umbilo police who assisted him on my case when I was hijacked in my garage on 2 July.

I had just driven into my garage, at 3.30pm, when I was held up for my vehicle. I think they saw me and needed my car as a getaway vehicle.

They drove away with my car and my belongings, and I reported it to the police. The car was recovered almost immediately!

I want to express my gratitude to Det Biyase and the constables who were absolutely wonderful.

The Detective fetched me from my home, took me to the pound and to the offices to do the paperwork. He was a real knight in shining armour!

His follow up was commendable, through the recovery of my car and in keeping me informed on the progress, he was exceptional. He tirelessly assisted me and was very patient with me, as an 80-year-old woman.

The Metro Police officer who recovered my vehicle was also a gentleman. Two tyres were damaged, but as it was a 16-year-old car, it was worth repairing financially.

I am very grateful that this terrible experience turned out this way, and in a time when there is so much negative news, it is nice to have a positive experience to report.

Grateful pensioner
