Outages are unacceptable

A resident said outages are causing damage to appliances, computers as well as the loss of contents in fridges and freezers.

EDITOR – What a few days it has been! I was born in Durban, and worked at the Council for many years. A couple of years ago, my wife and I experienced raw sewage running down our drive and could not get it resolved for nearly 10 months! This was resolved after we contacted a lot of people from Council, the media, and Councillor Tembe.

My wife bought our home in 1994 in Evans Road. For many years we have been experiencing unscheduled electricity outages!

My wife called Mr Wienand at the municipality and was assured that the problem would be solved. She also communicated with him by email, and he did assist, and we seemed to have no more problems for a few weeks.

However, the last few days were absolutely unacceptable. Last Friday, just before midday, the power was out until 10pm!

Then it came on for about an hour, and then came back on sometime during the night.

The following days, it just kept tripping for short periods about half a dozen times. On 19 March it went out before load shedding at 11.15am until 5.30pm! The man at the call centre who answered the phone said that he thought it was from switching the area off at the wrong time!

Once again it went out in the middle of the night for a couple of hours.

These outages are causing damage to our appliances, computers as well as the loss of contents in fridges and freezers!

We have had enough and expect this remedied urgently!
