EDITOR – I have travelled with the 6:30am city bus from Umbilo Monday to Friday for the past 5 years. I know the route.
On Thursday, 3 May, the bus reaches Aliwal Street when the driver for the week informs me that he’s not going to the Workshop, but going straight down West street because he needs to get airtime from the BP garage.
When I protested he told me not to waste his time because he has to go back to Umbilo. In that direction?
Our transport system is appalling and these drivers forget that they are providing a service, they are not doing us a favour.
