Centre management missed the point

The ‘loyal shoppers’ go there only for the convenience of a supermarket and butchery close by.

EDITOR – With reference to Davenport Centre manager’s response to my letter, he seems to have missed the point.

The majority of independent retailers have vacated it because they cannot afford the high rentals. Broll’s ‘intensive data base’ serves to prove that individual retailers are sidelined as they do not have the backing of the large companies.

This results in shops being vacant for months or taken by chains that already proliferate in the city. Nowadays the ‘loyal shoppers’ go there only for the convenience of a supermarket and butchery close by. Plus of course all the usual take away outlets outside.
