Gordhan saga is a smoke screen

A reader feels the attack against Pravin Gordhan is a smoke screen for something more sinister.

EDITOR – With every day passing the South African political landscape seems to be more dynamic than ever and we’ve gone from conspiracy theory to the absurd.

All this started with the frivolous claim that the Guptas were controlling the hand of the President and were basically the de facto government (state capture) to now claims that Pravin Gordhan is the political scapegoat being victimised for not allowing those who want control of the treasury and obviously the trillions of Rands.

One has to wonder whether all this is a smoke screen for something more sinister and one is tempted to consider the fact that the whole nuclear energy deal with Russia is really the cause for this panic and pandemonium among the ranks of the ruling party. It’s time to deliver the billions as part of the deal and the ANC does not have easy access to the cash. It’s a case of playing with fire and not believing that one wouldn’t get burnt.

I believe that in as much all the shenanigans that we have witnessed on television and in the media for the past few months have been entertaining there is a more sinister hand playing out in the background and if its not that of the Russian Mafia I would be rudely surprised.

Watch this space to vindicate my assumptions.
