Build communities, not a sports academy

A reader feels the municipality should use the money which has been allocated to build a sports academy, to improve rural communities.

EDITOR – I am saddened that this municipality wants to build a sports academy in the city.

They want to destroy the Newmarket Stables. They are very ignorant as this city has sport facilities of world class standard – can’t they use them to develop sport.

How much money are they going to spend on this project?Whoever is in the driving seat at the municipality must go to rural areas and ask those communities if they want such facilities in the city. I guarantee you they will say’ take that money and invest it in our undeveloped communities’.

If I was the municipality I would rather use current sporting facilities to develop underprivileged children in the city.

Here we go again spending money where it not supposed to be spent.

I say take all that money and build sports facilities in the rural areas. I believe this will be money wisely spent.
