Council are incompetent, says resident

Tony Ball feels the municipality came up with a convenient figure in response to the question on speed bumps for Cromwell Road.

EDITOR – Thank you for the article on the “speed bumps” saga.

I wish to add a comment.

When I investigated what sort of speed bumps would be suitable I found that the hard plastic yellow and black ones would be most suitable. These are easily fitted by drilling into the tarmac and to fit a row across each stop street (four rows in all) would be in the order of R20 000. I find it laughable that the eThekwini Council produced a conveniently round figure of R20 000 and hedged their bets by telling us that this year’s budget was allocated. Yet daily we read of money being squandered in every area.

It is quite clear that the Council are quite incompetent and articles from Cheryl Johnson and Kevin Dunkley confirm this view. The fact that they investigated the incorrect road is indicative of a don’t care attitude.
