We should be in control, says resident

A reader feels the running of the city should be in the hands of residents.

EDITOR – Tony Ball is right. When will any of our laws, never mind the Nuisance By-law, be enforced?

It seems to me that laws are made to pretend that someone cares, and that things will improve. But no one really cares, and often, those who should be enforcing them are actually breaking them, or ignoring them. Who are breaking them? This applies to all laws, crime included.

Maybe all types of police should be fired and new ones trained, and we, all the ratepayers, put in charge of the training. Maybe the municipalities and governments should be collapsed completely and a new system 'Laissez-faire' ('leave alone') introduced, where everyone gets involved with the running of everything, and rates and taxes are no more.

We can all be rich, and poverty, crime etc. will be things of the past. What do others think?
