City structures fail again

A reader's experience in obtaining a beach permit highlights poor communication by the city.

EDITOR –  This morning, I went to the Metro Boscombe Terrace office to collect a season Parking Permit.

As per the City web site  (https://www.durban.gov.za/city_services/parksrecreation/Pages/default. aspx), I had my Utility Bill and Proof of vehicle ownership.

For good measure, I took 4 documents: Utility Bill dated 2015-11-27;

Cert of Reg RC1; vehicle Licence MVL1; and SA green ID book.

The officer at the desk did not accept these documents. She insisted I  get a letter from the building I live in, even if, as I indicated, I parked on the road.

Although I told her what the requirements were according to the City website, she still said I should get a letter.

When I asked if the website was wrong then, she said, maybe.

She was 100% correct – the information was not updated, referring to the end-2013 season.

No, I am not any more upset with the City for not communicating effectively – that cup already runneth over.

This only adds to confirmations that the City structures continue to fail – and boasts of accolades and clean Audits detract from real Service Delivery.
