Enforcement is needed

A North Beach resident questions how the municipality will enforce the new nuisances bylaw.

EDITOR – I have been reading articles about bylaws to clean up the city, I would like to question how the city going to implement it.

The past weekend taxis and buses arrived on Thursday night and parked opposite the Pavillion Hotel in North Beach.

The holidaymakers partied into the night playing loud music and stayed over till Sunday evening. There was litter and broken beer bottles strewn everywhere.

People were sleeping and virtually camping there for the weekend. There were no toilets or bins provided.

There were incidents of a car stolen and breaking into a ca, belonging to fleamarket stall holders. Revellers also harrased customers at the flea market.

According to a stallholder at the fleamarket, the police were called but did not attend to the situation.

The December holidays are not far off, we need the municipality to put more toilets and bins so at least the area won't stink of urine and be littered.
