Bus problem won’t go away

A resident has written an open letter to Tozi Mthethwa, regarding the bus problem in Glenwood.

EDITOR – Open letter to Tozi Mthethewa – Head of communications, Durban Municipality.

Dear Tozi,

We welcome your public pronouncement that you will ask Metro Police to investigate allegations of buses using Lena Ahrens Road as a route to and from the KZN University illegally.

I am sure the owners of these buses, and their drivers, also welcomed the public pronouncement – so enabling them to “disappear” from Lena Ahrens Road while the investigation is conducted.

Which they have – no buses around today.

One of the routes entails travelling along Lena Ahrens Road to Rhodes Avenue and then along James Henderson Crescent to pick up students from the Campbell residence there. Then along the crescent and back onto Lena Ahrens Road and on to the university. I know these routes because I, and many other residents, walk these roads early in the morning and see these buses.

In a few weeks time when you announce that the investigation is concluded, and no evidence was found of buses using these roads illegally – what do you think will happen.

I will give you a clue Tozi. The buses will return?
